TE REO ME NGĀ TIKANGA MĀORI

Our kura has close links with Te Korowai o Wainuiārua – the three tribes of Uenuku, Tamakana & Tamahaki along with connections to Ngāti Hinewai, Ngāti Rangi & Ngāti Hikairo Ki Tongariro whānau

We continually strive to recognise and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi across all layers of school life. Tikanga Māori, Te Reo and Te Ao Māori are included in all curriculum areas as we continue to build partnerships.

Our carving by the hall is Te Hītaua te Peehi Kore, grandson of Te Peehi Tūroa paramount chief of the Whanganui river tribes.  He is carved by Uenuku tohunga whakairo, Kura Te Wanikau-Tahana-Tūroa who also designed and created the pou-whenua, Uenuku Te Pou Tipua o Tūroa, that stands at the National Park, Park & Ride site.

We respect and value the continued support and knowledge our Māori whānau and wider community bring to all our partnerships.
