Our tamariki join Ngā Tohu at the beginning of their time at school. Named after the Pinnacles on Ruapehu, after laying foundations at early childhood and at home with their whānau, these children are starting their school learning, reaching ever upwards towards their lofty peak.  

 

From here they aspire further moving along to Te Whiowhio, climbing the lofty heights Te Heuheu and Tūkino. 

 

Finally they transition to Paretetaitonga - named after the highest peak on Ruapehu. Our children are now at the peak of their learning, setting themselves lofty expectations as they work hard to reach the peak of their maunga.  

 

Children are able to finish their eight years at kura and look/reflect back at the ‘peaks’ of learning during their time at Waimarino -National Park School.  Families who choose to be inspired by the Māori world view see Ruapehu acting as kaitiaki for the children and their learning.
